Lobbying Representative David Rouzer's Office on Environmental Harms Built Into Tax Cut Law
December 7, 2017
On Thursday, December 7th, despite inclement weather, more than 40 BEAT members including Board members Neil Gilbert, Sandy Ford, Anne Nealy, Dale Todd, and Dr. Dwight Willis met with Chance Lambert, legislative assistant for U.S. Representative David Rouzer. The group discussed their concern with the fact that the tax cut bill provided authorization to open the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge (ANWR) in northeastern Alaska to drilling for gas and oil. The ANWR is one of the most beautiful wilderness areas in the United States. It has been a protected area since Dwight Eisenhower designated it so in 1960.
