Participation in the Oyster Reef-Building
Shoreline Renovation Project in Sunset
Beach on April 25, 2018
On Wednesday, April 25th, more than 50 volunteers - many of them from BEAT - participated in an effort to pack bags of oyster shells that will be used in an important shoreline renovation project in the waters off Town Park in Sunset Beach.
Orchestrated by the North Carolina Coastal Federation with leadership by Sunset Vision and support from the Town of Sunset Beach, the volunteers packed more than 1,100 bags - and enjoyed the great spirit that comes from working hard for a wonderful cause. The event was held at Fire Station #1 on Shoreline Drive in Sunset Beach.
The actual building of the reef will occur in late August or September.
