What is the Brunswick Environmental Action Team (BEAT)?

People who live in and visit Brunswick County are able to see, hear, smell, and touch some of the most glorious natural environment in all of the country. That opportunity is what has attracted many of our residents to make this their permanent home, and it is what attracts hundreds of thousands of visitors every year. We believe that this opportunity carries with it important responsibilities: learning about the environment, engaging in activities that show respect and concern for the environment, and encouraging other individuals, state and municipality staff, and policy decision-makers to place appropriately high priority on protecting the environment. It is up to all of us to make sure that this treasure is not lost.

Accordingly, the Brunswick Environmental Action Team (BEAT), a genuine grass roots organization of people who live throughout Brunswick County, has come together in support of the natural environment. The specific purposes of BEAT are:

To educate members, key decision makers, and the general public about Brunswick County’s natural environment.

To elevate awareness of members, key decision makers, and the general public about important environmental issues and concerns that affect Brunswick County and surrounding areas and about personal and policy options for addressing these issues.

To help advocate for personal and policy options that members believe would be most effective in addressing important environmental issues and concerns.
